Dixotomia Weapons: A High-Level Look at the Arsenal
Dixotomia's official site shows six weapons by name: the M-79, Spark, Baryonyx, Jormungand, Phobos 2T24 and Poseidon. The Technology skill tree covers the wider arsenal by type, from pistols and rifles to a plasma cannon and grenades. This guide stays high level, gives no per-weapon numbers and labels story-text details as lore.
Which weapons does the official site show?
| Weapon | What this guide can say |
|---|---|
| M-79 | In the lore, Tibet's local rifle, known for notably awkward sights |
| Spark | An experimental weapon worn on the right bracer |
| Baryonyx | Named on the official site |
| Jormungand | Named on the official site |
| Phobos 2T24 | Named on the official site |
| Poseidon | Named on the official site |
The site gives names, not categories, so this guide does not guess which type each of the last four belongs to. The best way to find out what they do is to play. For the Spark, the Spark guide explains the weapon and its trade-off.
Where does each fact come from?
Three sources feed this guide, and they are not the same thing:
| Source | What it gives | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| The official site | Six weapon names | Names without categories |
| The Technology tree | Twelve ability names, eight of them weapon types | Categories of kit |
| The story text | Lore about particular weapons | World-building, labelled as lore |
Keeping the three apart avoids a common mistake, which is to read a lore detail as a statement about how a weapon behaves in the game.
What gun types does the Technology tree cover?
The Technology tree has 12 abilities, and eight of them are weapon types:
- Pistol
- Rifle
- Assault Rifle
- SMG
- Machine Gun
- Shotgun
- Plasma Cannon
- Grenade
The other four are the Spark, an experimental weapon, and three pieces of gear: Armour, Visor and Sensor. For how points are bought and how the tiers work, read Dixotomia's skill trees.
What do the types usually mean?
These are genre conventions from shooters in general, not statements about Dixotomia's numbers:
| Type | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Pistol | A compact sidearm |
| Rifle | A longer-range weapon built for accuracy |
| Assault Rifle | An all-round automatic rifle |
| SMG | A compact automatic weapon for close quarters |
| Machine Gun | Heavy, sustained automatic fire |
| Shotgun | A close-range weapon that spreads its shot |
| Plasma Cannon | A heavy sci-fi energy weapon |
| Grenade | A thrown explosive |
How each one handles in Dixotomia is something to discover with the weapon in your hands.
Which details are lore?
The story text adds more detail about weapons. Treat the list below as world-building. It describes the fiction, and this guide does not claim it maps one to one onto the weapons you carry.
- M-79. Tibet's local rifle, with notably awkward sights.
- Sehmet-A-64. A rifle similar to the M-79 but far more comfortable to use.
- Thanatos-X-6. The personal sidearm of the hero, Reynor "Ron" Adams, in the story text. It fires a combined liquid cartridge with a depleted-uranium bullet core and a thermite base, which lets it punch through armour. Range stands use weakened substitutes, so Tibet had no ammunition for it.
- Spark. An experimental weapon that runs on the suit's own energy, covered in its own guide.
- Westinghouse Armory. In the lore, the Federation's weapons monopolist. Ron's standing grievance is that a monopoly still produces a hundred incompatible calibres.
None of that tells you how a weapon handles in your hands. It tells you what kind of world the guns come from: a place where weapons come from a single arms monopolist and corporations field private armies.
How do the weapons fit the two playstyles?
Dixotomia gives you two playstyles to mix: sci-fi technology and vampiric abilities. The weapons in this guide belong to the technology side. They sit in a tree of their own, next to the Armour, Visor and Sensor that support them.
The other side is the Vampire tree, and the two trees are incompatible. The clearest example is Vampiric Rage, which switches off your shield and your technology. That means leaning on the Vampire tree can cost you the use of your arsenal.
How do guns work in VR?
Dixotomia is made only for VR and lists Tracked Controller Support, so you handle weapons with your own hands and your tracked controllers. A few general habits help in any VR shooter:
- Practice somewhere calm. Dixotomia has a training range called the Polygon, which is the kind of place to get used to handling a weapon.
- Bring the weapon up to your eye line. Aim with your eyes and your hands together.
- Steady your aim. If a weapon allows a two-handed grip, it usually helps.
- Keep your play space clear. Reloading and turning take room.
What do you point them at?
Weapons are only half of the picture. On Karna you face a vampire cult and its powerful shadow masters, plus cultists, androids and mercenaries. The official site names four enemy types: Robot Soldier, Zombie Soldier, Sniper and Patrol.
For a full guide to who is out there, including the lore's list of enemies by area, read Dixotomia's enemy types.
What does this guide leave out?
It leaves out damage numbers, fire rates and ammo counts. A high-level guide is more useful without them, because they are best learned by holding the weapon and firing it. It also leaves out any claim about which of the six named weapons is strongest. That is for you to decide in play.
What should you take from this?
The arsenal is a mix of named weapons and broad categories, with a world behind it that treats guns as corporate goods. The Technology tree is where your guns, armour and gadgets live. The Spark is its most distinctive weapon, and the M-79 is a reminder that even Tibet's own rifles have flaws.
If you want to feel the guns before you buy, the free demo is on Steam and itch.io. The full game is on the Steam page and on the Meta Quest store.
